Mission Statement:

Conditions of people outside our borders can no longer be ignored. The various problems and issues that the under-developed world faces will not go away by us putting a blind eye to them. There is a dire need of assistance. We have an obligation to act. This is our chance. In a world, where humanity is carved into states, ethnicity and categorized human interests; we the members of CHANCE at the University of Toronto have taken up the challenge to unite and strive for a better tomorrow.

In order to live up to the responsibility of delivering global assistance to our counterparts in humanity, we take up the chance we have. The chance, to make a difference. The chance, to be the change we want to see in the world. The chance, to fight for a better tomorrow. The chance, to act today. The chance, to act now. That is the vision, we as a group endorse.

How do we anticipate that sustainable-development will take place in developing world? Interestingly, we don’t have the answer to the question. But you do. Which is why, the following are the approaches that will allow you and I, to answer the call for establishing equality and equity on earth:

By: Educating the masses.
Knowledge is a weapon. Education is the key. Research is vital. We can unlock our future with this key, by creating awareness, stimulating appreciation for other cultures and spreading information; which, leads to our next point.

By: Empowering all ages.
Empowerment is a result of access to knowledge. Empowerment and outreach will be at a global level. Because when one is no longer ignorant, one can no longer avoid, and when one can no longer avoid, one must act.

By: Dialogue on action.
Acting on the base of empowerment, one needs to have a dialogue and discussion of the most precise approach to action. Once a concise approach is decided, we will respond by acting!

By: Acting today, acting now.
Action means delivering. Delivering and carrying out our plan will be the most crucial step. This would require intense amount of planning and accuracy in research.

By: Evaluating and re-evaluating constantly.
In a consistent effort to evaluate and re-evaluate our projects, we constantly strive for accuracy in our endeavors.

Finally, it is important to reflect on an important fact. At the end of the day, we may be able to turn away, but those that live and feel, can’t. The urgency is dire. The call for assistance is getting louder. We need to answer before it’s too late. We have a choice; we can lead a legacy, or leave behind a past, that history will shun us for. This is our generation’s time, it is our world, and this is our chance.
