With all of the wealth and modern advancements of our world, there is really no excuse that there are children that can not go to school, or that there are people who don’t have access to basic human provisions necessary to live. It is unacceptable, and we are the generation that choose not to accept it anymore. With such initiatives as the Millennium Development Goals in our midst as being ways to address the needs of the world’s underdeveloped nations, we have taken it upon ourselves to be a force of action, and to be the change that we want to see. Our generation has a chance to seriously make a difference in the world, and we can do it if we come together and take action.
Our main objectives are to educate ourselves, students and the university community on conditions in the developing world, and with this knowledge mobilize students in an international dialogue with other students and young leaders, where we can come together to discuss ways in which we can take action to make a difference and a positive impact.
Underlying this main theme is the idea of fostering cultural development and exchange within students. We believe that cultural understanding and appreciation is absolutely vital, and is a crucial aspect in a student’s personal, intellectual and also professional development. With cultural understanding and appreciation, we as individuals become more sensitive and attuned to the value of other peoples different from us.
Finally, Chance seeks to develop youth leadership and empowerment.
We seek to give students opportunities to gain leadership skills and develop
their potential in a professional capacity. Our generation of young and eager
students are bursting with capability, ideas, and passion, and we are able to
impact our communities locally and internationally in a positive way.
